A Jeff Minter jam, where the theme was "The Perfect Beast"
If you dont know Jeff Minter, google him. He made many crazy arcade-style games from my childhood.
Background:
My idea for a Jeff Minter styled game was take an arcade game, add copious amounts of psychedelic effects, and of course, ungulates (hoofed animals) of all types must play the starring role. This is a game roughly based on Jetpac for the ZX spectrum.
Story:
Mutating aliens have invaded your favourite set of dimensions. Create Ungulate Beasties to help you fight them off and restore peace again.
Pickup parts of beasts and drop them in your beast template to form new types of beasts hitherto unknown to any being. Perhaps you may even create the perfect beast?
Once fully formed, ride your beast and banish the remaining aliens.
When done, proceed to the next dimension to repeat your work.
Bleat. Defeat. Repeat.

I taste colors now. Fun in multiple ways!
All kidding aside, this has a cool gameplay loop. Interesting to see what kinds of aliens are in each dimension, and what kinds of beasts you're able to assemble!
Some small notes; most of the sprites look fine, but I think the player character and the beast are under some scaling effect, and as a result are a bit artifacted. Setting the pixel clamping on your SpriteBatch.Begin() might help deter this. There's also a bit of weirdness with the shot particles when transitioning between levels, likely just some missed behavior during state change.
Overall, I like it! Keep up the good work.
Hey! Thanks for taking a look - this one was a lot of fun to make :) Yep agreed with your points - I might dm you on monogame discord about clamping - something strange was happening there.
